Garstang

Garstang Victorian ChristmasVisit Garstang, at the foothills of the Bowland Fells, Gold award winner and finalist in the 'Champion of Champions' in Britain in Bloom in 2006.  Through great community work the town always excels in the Britain in the Bloom campaign with its streets bursting with floral displays, a perfect photo stop during the summer months.

The pretty, historic town is home to a weekly, Thursday street market and a great base from which to explore the network of footpaths and winding country roads.

Garstang is very proud to have been designated as the World's first Fairtrade Town, where products offer a better deal to third world producers.

The remains of Greenhalgh Castle sit proudly on the hillside above town, and nearby, the Lancaster Canal runs through the town with boats available for a day or holiday hire, and the opening of the Millennium Ribble Link at Preston has enabled swift passage from the Lancaster Canal to the Leeds - Liverpool Canal for a wider variety of scenery.
